[edit] NPC Creation

I actually enjoy creating high-level NPCs and creatures, even if they'll never be used. I enjoy working out all the numbers, juggling them so that they're all correct, which can be a herculean task when all is said and done. I enjoy writing up stories for them, fitting them into the structure of worlds.

I'm a very big fan of the Immortal's Handbook, in fact, and even my non-epic characters will often use something from that book, esspecially the Dire template, whic really should have been made a template in the first place, instead of WotC just handing us a bunch of pre-templated creatures.

[edit] Name etymology

Fieari is an old roleplaying character name, and is derived from the word "Fire" in the following manner:

Applying the technique of scrambling, swap the last two letters.

Fire -> Fier

Since Fier is probably pronounced exactly the same as Fire, it isn't enough of a change. However, if you for yourself to pronounce the last letter "r" as a letter... Fie-"R", there's a different stress. Change the spelling in order to reinfoce this pronunciation.

Fier -> Fieare

Of course, this is a little akward and doesn't flow very well. Fortunately, the previous step can be repeated again for a more pleasing result. Fiear-"E". Again, change the spelling to match this new pronunciation.

Fieare -> Fieari

And there's my name!
