Healing Sacrifice (Su) A nisse can heal a living creature (or harm an undead) of 1d4+1 hit points by sacrificing its own life. This kills the nisse. Unwilling targets may make a Fort save (DC 6) to negate (harmless).
Injury Awareness (Su) A nisse can sense the amount damage on all living and undead creatures within 10 ft. This effect is constant.
Sprite Traits Nisses have a +2 racial bonus on Search, Spot, and Listen checks.
Strategy and Tactics Unlike most sprites, nisses care very little about combat. They will seek out injured creatures within their sense of awareness and sacrifice their lives, healing them. If undead are found, they always attack, causing harm to the undead. They otherwise flit about with virtually no concept of the world around them.
Sample Encounters (EL 1-2)
EL 1: Spattering of 1d3.
EL 1-2: Troupe of 3d6.
'Ecology Nisses live within the life energy of living vegetation or plant life. They emerge seemingly on a whim, to flit about for a few moments. If an injured creature is sensed, it will emerge and heal the creature, ending its life.
Environment Nisses can be found in any environment that supports plant life.
Typical Physical Characteristics Nisses appear as translucent sprites only 4 inches tall, surrounded by a bluish mist.
Alignment Always neutral.
Typical Treasure none.
For Player Characters Druids can summon a nisse with a summon nature's ally spell. Treat the nisse as being on the 1st-level list.
Advanced Creature 1 HD (Fine); 2-3 (Diminutive).
