The Warforged appear in both the Eberron Campaign Setting and Monster Manual III.

This NPC has no connection to the Hatchet character detailed in the Races of Eberron book who developed the Reforged Prestige Class.

Hatchet is a servant of the Lord of Blades, and can be used as a bodyguard for Helm (Warforged Artificer 4) along with Onebee and Twobee (Warforged Scout Rogues). He was originally encountered in an area of utter cold, which explains his spell selection. DMs may want to select a new, more useful, 1st level ranger spell for him.

Hatchet (warforged ranger 4): Medium-size Living Construct; HD 4d8+8; 26 hp; Init +1; Defense 16 (+5 armor, +1 dex); Spd 30 ft; BAB +4; Grap +6; Atk +8 melee (1d8+2/x3 battleaxe) or +5 ranged (1d8/x3 longbow); Full Atk +6 melee (1d8+2/x3 battleaxe) and +6 melee (1d6+1/x3 handaxe); SA Combat style, favored enemy; SQ Wild empathy; AL LE; SV Fort +7, Ref +6, Will +3; Str 15, Dex 13, Con 14, Int 10, Wis 12, Cha 6.

Favored Enemy (humans): Hatchet has a +2 on weapon damage rolls and a +2 on Bluff, Listen, Sense Motive, Spot and Survival checks against humans.

Wild Empathy: Hatchet can attempt to modify the reactions of animals with a +2 on his check.

Ranger Spells Prepared: 1—resist energy.

Possessions: 830 gp, masterwork battleaxe, masterwork handaxe, longbow, potion of repair moderate damage, potion of bull’s strength, cloak of resistance +1.

If you don't want to give Hatchet an animal companion, he could use the Distracting Attack alternate class feature from PHB 2. Onebee and Twobee would certainly profit from that.

Distracting Attack (PHB 2, p 55): Lose animal companion. Whenever you hit with an attack, the enemy is then considered flanked.

Also instead of spellcasting the Spell-less Ranger alternate class feature from Complete Warrior might fit very well for him:

Spell-less Ranger (CW, p 13): Lose spellcasting, gain fast movement and spell-like abilities.
