A scout's purpose is to gain military intelligence by stealthily observing the terrain ahead, as well as enemy forces. They can also act as a "pointman" for an ambush, alerting the other troops when the enemy draws near. Scouts generally have better night vision than most people.
While scouts sometimes belong to an elite force (such as the United States Marine Corps Reconnaissance unit), this scout represents a typical soldier with a talent for observation and moving stealthily.
