Riley was born and raised in N.Y. city. His family was large and very close. While they where not rich they where better off than many people. Riley’s father was very strict but not unfair. He kept his children away for the gangs and drug pushers of the neighborhood. He helped form neighborhood watches and helped promoted anti-drug presentations at local schools. None of this saved Mr. Escobar from the police of though one night while coming home from work late Mr. Escobar was shot by police while getting in to his car. They claimed self defense saying they saw a glint of metal that in hindsight must have been his keys. Despite forensic evidence showing that Mr. Escobar had been shot thru the palms of his hands [and that form the angle of the shots he was most probable on his knees at the time]. The officers where found not guilty. And where put back out on the street. Riley the oldest of the Escobar children could not take this injustice. Confronting the offices in question one night while they where off duty. They just laughed at him until he took a swing at one of them. Then they hauled him out in to a back alley and began working him over it was only when they finished and one was about to shoot him that Riley’s latent mutant powers manifested. As the officers finger tightened on the trigger it was as if the world was slowing down Riley easily avoided the bullet and then make very short work of the other officers. None of them have been seen since. Now he’s searching for the jury members that let his fathers killers go in the first place.

Riley is a bitter young man after having his father murdered and seeing the murderers get away scot-free he lost what little faith he had and the justice system or any higher powers. He now takes his angry out on the society that he feels took his father. There are however limits to what Riley is willing to do for his vengeance. His fathers lessons still weigh on his conscience. Riley will not take hostages or endanger the lives of common citizens. Unless he feels they are somehow contributing to the injustice of this country.
