Another case of "killed before he got to go" in my campaign, Bazzafoul is pretty nifty. His equipment value is not balanced to his CR. Using him requires only the core rules, with the exception of the feat Large and In Charge (which was originally in Sword and Fist and was updated in Complete Warrior).
